Provider S2S Tool
Top 5 Ways OB Providers can Support Skin-to-Skin
So many midwives, nurses and Obstetricians are motivated to increase access to skin-to-skin; yet, it can be hard to know where to start. We developed this tool as an introduction for providers who want to see a shift in practice. It is important to note that skin-to-skin is not an intervention, but "the right place" for babies to transition. It was never proven safe to separate mothers from newborns, and it has only been a short time in history that we regarded newborn nurseries & baby warmers as "safer" than mother. Skin-to-skin is the one practice above any other has the potential to improve infant, maternal, and even societal outcomes.
